The Carson and Woolworth buildings have been cornerstones in the downtown Ottawa landscape for years serving as a regional shopping attraction. In fact, the Carson building is the site of the original “Founder’s Store” of this iconic Chicago-based retailer. As traffic shifted to the interstate and department stores outgrew their downtown locations, buildings like these became obsolete and underutilized. Today, we see a thriving downtown once more and CL Real Estate is working to add the Carson and Woolworth buildings to the authentic, walkable downtown scene! The Carson building will be completely renovated to allow for one floor of flexible retail space, and an expansion of Tangled Roots Brewing Company operations. Future phases leave options for a second-floor event space or for residential units The Woolworth building will be converted to a large open event space featuring glass garage doors, creating an all-season “pavilion” on Ottawa’s historic Washington Square Park. Located on LaSalle Street, these beautiful old buildings will once again attract locals and tourists alike who are visiting the area’s many outdoor and historic attractions or simply taking a stroll through historic downtown Ottawa!
